MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) at The Den Fight Centre - This is also known as ultimate fighting. MMA covers all ranges of unarmed combat, and is designed for sparring and competition. The aim is to have as few rules as possible while still ensuring safety against severe injuries. In general, boxing (kickboxing and muay thai included), wrestling (Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and to a lesser extent Judo) and Ju jitsu are the three styles that comprise the core of nearly all modern MMA. Most MMA fighters fall into one of three general categories/strategies: The ground fighter, who will force a fight to the ground, where the focus will be on getting a fight-ending submission, "mission submission". The ground fighter is the closest to a pure grappler one finds in MMA nowadays. The wrestler, who's strength usually is the takedown. A common strategy of the wrestler is known as "ground'n pound". This refers to the method of taking an opponent down, achieving a dominant ground position, and finishing the fight with strikes. The striker, who's preference is to stay on his/her feet and win with a knockout. The strategy of the striker is sometimes called "sprawl'n brawl". This refers to the focus on counter takedowns in order to stay upright and exchange blows. MMA sessions are taught in a friendly and relaxed environment. By training in MMA you will qualify to work towards your black belt in "Freestyle Martial Arts" if you wish.

Kickboxing/Muay Thai at The Den Fight Centre - Are you looking for a total body workout? How about a way to increase your stamina, flexibility, and strength? Kickboxing uses punching, kicking, knees and elbow combinations. Although the true roots of kickboxing date back to Asia 2,000 years ago, modern competitive kickboxing actually started in the 1970s, when American karate experts arranged competitions that allowed full-contact kicks and punches that had been banned in karate. Because of health and safety concerns, padding and protective clothing and safety rules were introduced into the sport over the years, which led to the various forms of competitive kickboxing practiced in the World today. The forms differ in the techniques used and the amount of physical contact that is allowed between the competitors. The sessions include an athletic workout consisting of shadow boxing, heavy bag work, Sparring and strength and conditioning drills. You can also work towards gaining your black belt in "Kickboxing"!

Jujitsu at The Den Fight Centre - Jujitsu emphasizes ground fighting techniques and submission holds joint-locks and choke holds also found in numerous other arts with or without ground fighting emphasis. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique. Jujitsu can be trained for self defence, sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition. With training in Jujitsu you have the option of grading and working towards your black belt. Jujitsu at the den is No-Gi (just shorts and t-shirt).
